[Audio] God Became Man So That Men Might Become God
Hundreds of years ago, St. Athanasius made a theological statement that sounds, at best, scandalous and, at worst, heretical: “God became man so that men might become God.”
What on earth does this possibly mean? Is it true and what are the implications?
Here at my parish in Ames, Iowa we run monthly Evenings of Recollection and last month I tackled the topic at hand. See below for the talk audio, titled “Divine Filiation.”
Spoiler Alert: Divine filiation is a reality, NOT an analogy. As theologians like to say, we have by grace what Jesus has by nature: divine sonship!
Enjoy!
